Guild Wars 2 Guild versus Guild

Guild versus Guild doesn't officially exist in Guild Wars 2. Thankfully, players and guilds are a resourceful bunch and have found their own form of the much loved past time. In simple terms, this involves two guilds pre-arranging a time and place in World versus World, when the matchups align, to then duke it out over a series of rounds. 

In this first set of videos involving my Guild, Semper Dius, we fight UNITY of Riverside. I won't spoil the outcome but all I will add is that if you're looking for me, I'm the male charr called Taro Koa running around with 2 purple chaos guns.  sell GW2 items

Dynamic Leveling Adjustment


 

Hello, I'm Isaiah Cartwright, the lead game designer for Guild Wars 2. I’d like to talk today about some changes we made to our dynamic leveling system, which allows players to enjoy the content on any map at any level.

We had a few issues with this system that we made adjustments to. When high-level characters played in lower level zones, they were a bit too powerful, so the content was not as challenging as it could be.

As a result of this, we also scaled down the rewards a bit too much.

As of the 28 January build, we made some changes to the dynamic scaling system to address these issues:
1.) We changed the formula for how attributes are calculated when the dynamic leveling adjustment system scales you down. This makes returning to lower level zones more fun and better balanced.
2.) We changed the formula for how rewards are calculated when scaled down to make it more rewarding for high-level players to visit lower level areas.guild wars 2 gold

   The goal is to more accurately reflect the attributes you should have at that level for a similarly geared character. While this will make some areas harder, our goal is to make all areas of Guild Wars 2 exciting and fun for players of any level. We also want players of all levels to feel like their time is well spent and rewarding in any map they go to.

   In 2013, one of our main goals is to add more content to maps of all levels, as well as stronger reward structures for playing across all locations in the world. This will give us a strong structure of experiences, challenges, and rewards that are balanced for a player of any level in any map and help make the social experience of playing anywhere in our game more exciting.buy gw2 gold

Guild Wars 2 – What’s Next?

Guild Wars has had 3 million activations since it’s release, so it goes without saying that they will want to keep people playing the game. So here we go with some updates!

In the first ‘update’ arriving Monday 28th January players will be treated to a number of new features, including:

A new storyline will play out over the coming months.
 New achievement currency for daily/monthly achievements and new items you can buy with the new currency. There will also be rotating daily achievements every day of the week Guesting to allow playing with friends on different worlds.

It was four of the worst hours I've spent in Guild Wars 2 thus far.




   More Isn't Always Merrier
   And these crowds further made it difficult to appreciate the story ArenaNet was trying to tell. When you corner a conspirator to discover the truth, but you do it alongside 50 other characters, all crammed into his bedroom like some fantasy world clown car, it kills the mood. Instances aren't always a bad thing.

I killed this karka and all I got was this lousy earring.
 Which all leads to the big finale. I have the utmost respect for how ArenaNet puts drama, action, and storytelling into its open worlds. But the battles against the karka on Southsun Shoals were a misbegotten spectacle of epic misproportion. I was there for four hours on Sunday afternoon, and it was four of the worst hours I've spent in Guild Wars 2 thus far, because I knew what ArenaNet was trying to do. I could tell how it was supposed to go, and so I was keenly aware of how it wasn't going. The lag was so bad that I finally just rejiggered my Necromancer, a character I've built as an unholy debuff machine, as a summoner class. I called in four undead pets, put my ranged staff attack on auto attack, and followed the swarm as best as I could. It got to the point where I would press the button to use an ability, and it would take 30 seconds before it actually activated. I have never seen anything so bad in Guild Wars 2.

Furthermore, ArenaNet chose to coincide the Lost Shores event with a free trial weekend -- which would've been much less of a big deal if the event was restricted to higher character levels. It wasn't, so anyone who wanted to participate had his or her character boosted to the level cap. This isn't unprecedented -- the larger-scale player-vs-player battles do this, and it's a great way to open to everyone something traditionally reserved for endgame content.
